    Mr. Edsel Pereira is currently Vice President - Information Technology (Corporate) at Glenmark, a leading, research–based global pharmaceutical company. An IT professional with over 20 years of experience, Edsel is currently spearheading several transformational Information Technology projects at Glenmark. He is a Member of the company’s IT Steering Committee as well as Change Advisory and IT Architecture teams.

    Edsel is a certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with proven domain expertise in areas of IT, SAP, IT outsourcing, IT Infrastructure, Data Management, Enterprise Management and IT Audits. Apart from Glenmark, Edsel served successful stints with leading Indian and MNC organizations like Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC, UK where he was designated as Corporate Director - IT. Edsel holds a Masters Degree in Finance, Masters Degree in Commerce and Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management.

    Rick Mans was born in 1979 in The Hague, The Netherlands. During his early years he started swimming, and eventually became a successful long distance swimmer who won several national championships and crossed the the IJsselmeer three times (a swim of approximately 25km). Besides that he studied Management Economics and Law with a focus on online communication and behavior, graduating in 2002.

    During his study he and three costudents started a company called eMagin in 1999. The focus was based around the web and merely at content management and already at collaboration software. Customers were the municapel for The Hague, several sportclubs and small and medium enterprises.

    In 2007 he started working for Capgemini, where he soon became the inhouse social business strategist, besides working on the social media strategy for the Capgemini Group he is also working on national and international cases for several (Fortune 500) customers. Nowadays he lives and loves social media, helping people and enterprises in using social media in a way that adds value for them. He also gives guest lectures at several universities to make students aware of the impact social media will have on their life in general and on enterprises in particular in the near and not so near future.

    He mostly blogs about social media and the way people and enterprises could interact and collaborate, and has great interest in anything digital, especially when it impact behavior.

    Is he a geek? Well… yes. A geek with a social life though. Even one with a wife and a young son, whose first English words were ‘Social media’.

    Dr. Bharat Bhasker

    Dr. Bharat Bhasker is a Professor in the area of Information Technology & Systems, and has been with IIM Lucknow since 1996. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from University of Roorkee, Master’s degree and Doctorate in Computer Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA. Prior to joining IIM Lucknow, He spent 11 years working in the leading research establishments in USA.

    Dr. Bhasker spent seven years with Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA in leading research and research management positions. His research contributions in Heterogeneous distributed database management systems, Heterogeneous distributed information management, Information retrieval from mass repositories, and internet protocols won him a Research Productivity Award from the NASA in 1992.

    Dr. Bhasker was member of the High Performance Computer and Communications (HPCC) initiative of the NASA that lead to the Information Superhighway project. He worked for four years with MDL Information Systems and Sybase Inc., California, USA and was the architect of the massively parallel DBMS, Sybase MPP. He also served as Visiting Professor of Information Systems, Business Management School, University of Maryland, University of California, and University of Texas, USA.

    Dr. Bharat Bhasker has established the Internet Commerce Research Center to promote the Electronic Commerce research in India. The center also serves as resource center for the Indian Electronic Commerce Industry.

    Dr. Bhasker has taught postgraduate courses in India and abroad and has published papers in the area of Distributed Database Management Systems, Internet Applications, and Multimedia Integration on Internet, Information Retrieval and Electronic Commerce.
